Brent Kaufman, Programs Co-Chair
What do you
do as Co-Chair of the Programs Committee of the Milwaukee
Chapter?
The Programs Co-Chair supports our chapter by bringing quality
speakers to our events. We evaluate areas of interest to our
members and monitor current B2B marketing trends to guide our
program content. The committee works to secure our event venue for
monthly meetings. We also manage the logistics of each event and
coordinate with the other committees such as Communications,
Sponsorship and Membership to keep the chapter active.
How long have you been a member of BMA?
I first attended a BMA Milwaukee event 6 years ago when I was
working with Quad/Graphics. After periodically attending I became
interested in the B2B content and professional network. I became a
member in 2008 and the following year was asked to help with the
University Outreach Committee. 2011 is the second year I've been
involved with the Programs Committee.
Tell us about your background in
marketing.
Early on in my career I managed programs in the Point Of Sale and
package design industry. In the mid -1990s I transitioned to the
business consulting sector. Arthur Andersen was developing their
internet marketing offering during the digital boom. I used my
skill sets as a Producer for the new practice. I had the
opportunity to work with amazing clients by delivering experiential
design and internet marketing solutions. Quad/Graphics recruited me
to Milwaukee in 2005. There I helped guide traditional print
clients through integrating their off-line marketing efforts with
digital media offerings. I'm
currently a Client Strategist for Layer One Media helping B2B
clients and consumer brands advance their on-line offerings with
website, mobile, application and digital marketing
expertise.
What is the most valuable part of your BMA
membership?
I've really enjoyed the fact that this is an organization that not
only helps me with professional networking but that I learn so much
form as well. It's like attending a conference but without the
travel and out of office hassle of a week -long event. Every month
during the program season I know that I'll be learning alongside
other local B2B marketing professionals and sharing experiences
that help us all do better work.
What do you do when you're not busy being Membership
Chair?
In my spare time I'm a chauffeur for my three kids. My wife and I
spend what time we can in the garden - we think the garden is
winning that battle. I also have what some have told me is a
somewhat unhealthy attachment to both my iPhone and my dog, a 5
year old boxer!
