Kathleen Dohearty, Programs Co-Chair
How long have you been a
member of BMA?
I have been a member of BMA for the last two seasons, but have
been attending BMA events for years. I got more involved as a board
member last year because I really saw the value in the programming
and in the social and professional networks that BMA brings to the
table.
Tell us about your background in
marketing.
I have been in some form of communications for 15 years. I started
my career out in New York City at Turner Broadcasting - which I
consider to be more of a life experience than a professional one.
Once back in Milwaukee, I was bit by the agency bug, working in PR
for various clients. In 2004, I earned an MS from Northwestern
University's Medill IMC program which gave me a diverse perspective
of how research, data, advertising and PR all work together in
harmony. I've been with Branigan Communications for six years and
it's my dream job.
What is the most valuable part of your BMA
membership?
BMA is a great organization to work and play in. It provides the
opportunity to learn something while forming great professional
relationships and long-lasting friendships.
What do you do when you're not busy being a BMA Board
Member?
I love to sing and do so in my church choir, for weddings and
about town on occasion. I'm also a runner and have put my shoes
back on for a second time - last year I completed the Napa to
Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon. Otherwise, spending time with
family and great friends is at the top of my list.
