Ken Maciejewski, Membership Chair
What do you do as Chair of the
Membership Committee of the Milwaukee Chapter?
The Membership Committee is responsible for recruiting and
retaining members. Our goals are to increase awareness of the
benefits of membership; make sure people feel welcome at our
events; embrace new members when they join the organization and
solicit member input, through our annual survey, on ways to
increase the value of membership.
How long have you been a member of BMA?
I attended one BMA event four years ago and realized the value
provided through their high-quality programming. At the time, my
organization was in the process of purchasing a company in Madison
which required my full attention. James Wolter, the current
BMA-Milwaukee President asked if I would consider the Membership
Chair position earlier this year. I have known, and done business
with James for many years. I trusted his belief that this would be
a good fit. I continue to be more impressed with what BMA has to
offer as I attend more events. I look forward to welcoming new
members to our chapter and meeting the current membership.
Tell us about your background in
marketing.
Marketing and Sales have always been a part of my life. Private
school fundraisers gave me my first taste of these fields at a
young age, including selling over 2000 candy bars in fourth grade.
My high-school and college years provided more practical experience
as I became involved in concert promotion, playing in bands,
opening a coffee house at UW-Whitewater and promoting programs as a
Resident Assistant. I decided to pursue a degree in PR (which I
later learned does not stand for Punk Rock) with a minor in
Marketing and module in Audio Production. I currently work as a
Sales Manager in the Contract Packaging Industry, with departmental
Marketing responsibilities.
What is the most valuable part of your BMA
membership?
Through BMA, I am already connecting with marketing professionals
from various organizations. The opportunity to learn is the biggest
value for me. Marketing evolves at a rapid rate these days and the
knowledge contained in the collective BMA-Milwaukee mind will
certainly help me, to help my organization be competitive.
What do you do when you're not busy being Membership
Chair?
I have more than enough to fill my limited free time outside of
work and BMA. I have a beautiful family, including my wife of
almost 10 years and two splendid children. I still participate
heavily in the music business, playing with my high-energy rock
band, promoting a few concerts every year, and running a small
recording studio in my home. I also occasionally find time to brew
beer, go fishing, jump on the treadmill, and hang out with friends.
Life is never boring
