Sabrina Nelson, Holiday Party Chair
What do you do as Holiday Party Chair of
the Milwaukee Chapter?
My responsibilities leading this committee are twofold. First, I
want to create a fun and relaxing evening where we can all come
together and enjoy the spirit of the holiday season as well as each
other's company. In addition, I am dedicated to ensuring that
BMA-Milwaukee gives back to the community in which we live and
work. This year we are again supporting Children's Hospital of
Wisconsin and will be donating WISH LIST items brought to the
party. Also, a large portion of the proceeds from our silent
auction an drawings will be donated to the hospital as well.
How long have you been a member of BMA?
I have been a member of BMA since 2005 and contributed on the
Membership and Bell committees before taking on my current
responsibilities as Chair of the Holiday Party. This will be my
second year leading the Holiday Party efforts. Last year, we
collected more than 110 toys and raised more than $4,000 for
Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. This year, my committee and I
hope to meet/exceed these results!
Tell us about your background in
marketing.
I have a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University
of Texas-Arlington and my MBA is from UW-Milwaukee. I have worked
in a variety of marketing, sales support and communications roles
during my 9 years with Johnson Controls. As Program Manager for
Service Communications, I support the internal and external
communication efforts of our 150+ branch offices across North
America.
What is the most valuable part of your BMA
membership?
Where do I start! Education, Networking, Personal Growth and
Development. These are all benefits of my association with BMA.
Additional member-only education and opportunities like the
privilege of serving on the Board and helping to shape this
organization provide me with a tremendous sense of personal and
professional satisfaction as well.
What do you do when you're not busy being Holiday Party
Chair of the Milwaukee Chapter?
My husband Tim and I live in Racine with our two "girls" - Biscuit
and Zuzu - Maltese/Dachshund mixes and sisters from the same
litter. I must enjoy home remodeling as I do an awful lot of it -
just ask me about the 10-ton stone patio sometime. I also enjoy
shopping for items at garage sales and flea markets and then
re-selling them on eBay. I get the thrill of shopping and
(sometimes) make a profit!
