Shari Stark, Chair, University Outreach Committee
What do you do as Chair of the University Outreach
Committee of the Milwaukee Chapter?
The University Outreach Committee works to provide educational and
networking opportunities to area college students studying in the
marketing and communications field. Each year we host several
educational events for students and also award an annual $1500
scholarship.
How long have you been a member of BMA?
This is my second year as a member of the BMA. I helped out as a
volunteer for the social media session a few years ago at the
Student Lightning Round interviews and thoroughly enjoyed working
with the students. When I joined the BMA, I knew I wanted to really
get involved with the organization and serve on a committee. I'd
had such a great experience with the UOC events, that it was an
obvious choice.
Tell us about your background in
marketing.
I started out in TV news as an art director and worked closely
with our promotions team to market the station, the programs and
events. I then gained plenty of first-hand experience doing the
sales and marketing for my own design firm and for the past 11
years, I've been focused on creating digital marketing programs and
experiences at Fullhouse as a Creative Director and Digital
Strategist.
What is the most valuable part of your BMA
membership?
It's difficult to specify one thing as most valuable. The
organization has provided great learning opportunities and exposure
to industry thought leaders through the monthly events. Working on
the UOC has been rewarding as well. I enjoy working with peers from
the Milwaukee marketing community, exchanging ideas and creating
programs to help students as they transition to professional
marketing careers.
What do you do when you're not busy being Membership
Chair?
I make sure to carve out time for photography, reading and jewelry
design.
